Wilma Jean Garrett Penland was born August 30, 1940 in Birmingham, AL. Her family moved to the West bank of New Orleans when Jean was around four years old. Jean lived in many different places in her life but she always considered the West bank as her home town. She preferred to be called Jean.
Jean was beautiful inside and out. Quick with a smile and loved to laugh. She was always willing to help others and did so to the best of her ability. She loved her family with all her heart. She was very close to her five Sisters and had a very special place in her heart for each one of them. She also loved her two Brothers.
She was the best Mother, Maw Maw, and homemaker anyone could ask for. She loved her four children unconditionally and gave them her all. She is preceded in death by her Mother Catherine Garrett, Father Preston Garrett, 2 Sisters: Mickey and Charlotte and Brother Billy Ray.
She is Survived by her Children: Thomas K Penland Jr. (Kenny), Roxsie L Penland Doskey and husband Charles, Lowell A. Penland (John) and wife Mooney, and Tammy D. Penland Verlander and husband Donald. Her sisters, Ann Thornton, Marie Allen, and Sandra Ourso. And Her Brother Preston H. Garrett Jr. As well as numerous Grand Children, Great Grand Children, and Nieces and Nephews. We all loved her very much. She will be truly, dearly missed and never forgotten.
Relatives and Friends of the Family are invited to attend the Visitation at MOTHE FUNERAL HOME, 7040 Lapalco Blvd., Marrero, LA on Wednesday, June 29, 2016 from 11 until 1 PM.
