Wilma Theresa Wheelis

Wilma Theresa Wheelis, 86, was taken home on July 23, 2024 by her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. She was born on February 19, 1938 and grew up in Larose, LA. Wilma moved to the Gretna, LA area in her twenties where she was loved by all who knew her.

She retired from the beauty industry after 30 years. Wilma was a beautiful person on the inside and out. She never met a stranger. Her magnetism and vivacious personality generated so many relationships that lasted a lifetime. Wilma loved her family and friends more than life itself. She would have wanted to thank all of her family and friends for the countless memories that were created over her beautiful life. She is whole again and her bright light will shine on us for all eternity. 

Left to cherish her memory are: her loving and devoted husband of 45 years, William (Bill) Wheelis, her children Darla (Kay) Burmaster, Glenn Wright, Dana Wright and Scot Wright (Jennifer) and Susan and Keith Wheelis; her grandchildren Starr (Danny), Christopher (Lauren), Brandy, Corey, Gabrielle, Matthew (Courtney), Lil Glenn (Nicole), Eli, Christian, Benjamin, Brook, Peyton, Brennan; her great grandchildren Gracie, Braden, Jake Ryan, Halen, Christopher Jr., Ryan, Michael, Aliyah, Mia, Mason, Maci and Amelia; her sisters Debra Leonard (Zachary), Belinda Rodrigue and Linda Orgeron (Dean); her brothers Michael Adams (Gisele) and Mickey Adams (Donna); and her dear lifelong friend Ms. Linda Jones.

Mrs. Wilma Wheelis is preceded in death by her parents Whitney J. Adams and Agatha V. Adams and her sisters Irene Badeaux, Thelma Gisclair and Velma Noel; her brother Mark Adams; and infant brothers Whitney, Sidney, and Norman Adams. Her family will forever miss her presence, but will cherish the many wonderful memories shared.

Funeral Services will be held on Monday July 29, 2024 at Mothe Funeral Home, 2100 Westbank Expressway, Harvey, LA. Visitation will start at 12:30 pm to 1:30 pm. A service in the chapel will begin at 1:30 pm. Interment will immediately follow at Westlawn Memorial Park,1225 Whitney Ave., Terrytown, LA.
